2017 Tattersall’s Mile Day has drawn nine talented fields of horses to Doomben Racecourse on Saturday afternoon and is headlined by the time-honoured mile race, contested at Listed level.

Classy fields will line up for all nine races on 2017 Tattersall’s Mile Day and we have analysed every horse in detail, in order to help you find a winner.

The action on 2017 Tattersall’s Mile Day is set to get underway with the running of the GH Mumm 2YO Handicap (1600m) at 11:42am, while the feature race is slated for 3:27pm.

Race 1 (11:42am) GH Mumm Two-Years-Old Handicap (1600m)

Thirteen two-year-olds have been confirmed in the field for Saturday’s GH Mumm Handicap at Doomben, including Diomedes (barrier 10). The Golden Archer gelding broke through for a maiden race win in the Mount Franklin Plate (1350m) at Doomben on June 28^th and appears as though he will enjoy this step up in trip. Snapchat Girl (barrier 12) has been charged with overcoming a wide draw, but is seeking a third-consecutive win in this race following two strong performances over 1400m. Guissola (barrier 11) has posted two wins and a minor this time and is not without a chance, while Meyiwa Hitam Mawar (barrier 7) should be rock-hard fit leading into this third-up assignment and is primed for a maiden win.

Race 2 (12:17pm) Des Lambart Memorial Cup (2200m)

Fourteen horses will line up for Race 2 on Tattersall’s Mile Day, including interstate raider Loving Home (barrier 5). Trainer Chris Waller has an opinion of the British import and he appears as though he is looking for a step up in distance after working to the line for fifth in the BOQ Victoria Point BM80 (2040m) on July 8^th. Brilliant Jet (barrier 4) has found strong and consistent form this time and is drawn to receive a great run in transit, while Leprechaun Lad (barrier 8) carries winning form into the race and should again prove tough to beat under the conditions. Splendid Stryker (barrier 12) is weighted well and should find a position behind the early pace from a wide draw.

Race 3 (12:52pm) Functions @ Tattersalls Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110m)

A capacity field has been taken for Race 3 and it is subsequently a particularly open race from a betting perspective. Ben Currie’s stable is absolutely flying and is well represented in this race by Pure Luck (barrier 7). The Siderus colt has been charged with overcoming the 58kg topweight, but has won each of his two most-recent starts and should enjoy a good run in transit from his draw. Tale Of The Fox (barrier 1) debuted to racing for a smart win at Grafton on July 6^th and should only improve into this race, while Calligrapher (barrier 11) and Timperley (barrier 4) both resumed for smart wins. Excelebrazione (barrier 5) has not been far away in each of his three starts this time and should be tough to beat under the conditions of this race.

Race 4 (1:27pm) Carlton Draught Class 6 Handicap (1050m)

Sir Donald (barrier 11) went amiss last time out, but has the class to win Race 4 at Doomben on Saturday and should be right in the finish once more. Sir Donald flew home to win a pair of Gold Coast sprints through May and June, but was held up when fifth in the XXXX BM90 (1000m) last time out. Khalama (barrier 2) carried plenty of benefit into her last-start win over 1050m at Doomben and should be reaching peak fitness for this, her third-up run. Tony Sears will launch a smart two-pronged attack in the form of Tycoon Ace (barrier 6) and Bonsho (barrier 10). The former resumed for a smart win in the Trackside Tapas BM80 (1100m) on June 21^st, while the latter will take plenty of benefit from a first-up third in the Powertrain Services Plate (1050m) a fortnight ago.

Tip: No. 7 Khalama ($4)

Race 5 (2:07pm) Ubet Class 3 Plate (1200m)

It is an open and classy field of fourteen that has been confirmed for Race 5 at Doomben on Saturday. Song One (barrier 6) won a Toowoomba minor over 1200m first-up in May, and has since finished a close second in his two most-recent starts. Malvern Estate (barrier 1) has posted two wins and a close second through three career starts and should again prove tough to beat in this race, while Pinch Mountain (barrier 4) is drawn well, in terrific form and is a live chance once more on Saturday. Everything went Azarenka’s (barrier 3) way when she returned to winning form in a Caloundra sprint on July 9^th and she is again positioned well in this race.

Tip: No. 8 Pinch Mountain – Each Way ($12/$3.60)

Race 6 (2:47pm) Stav, Abby And Matt With Osher’s Open Handicap (1200m)

Only ten horses will contest Race 6 on Tattersall’s Mile Day, but the depth of talent confirmed suggests that is will be one of the better contests at Doomben on Saturday. Charlie Boy (barrier 2) will have his first start for Tony Gollan in the race and is more than up to the class. Group 1 placed at the course twice previously, the Myboycharlie gelding is drawn well and should be right in the finish of the race. Gollan will saddle four runners in total, after also confirming Frespanol (barrier 9), El Sasso (barrier 1) and Notonyourlife (barrier 3). Flamboyer (barrier 7) steps back in class into this race and is rock-hard fit, while Irish Constabulary (barrier 10) is in career-best form and has the notable advantage of Jeff Lloyd in the saddle this weekend.

Tip: No. 1 Charlie Boy – Each Way ($8/$2.50)

Race 7 (3:27pm) Listed Tattersall’s Mile (1600m)

Eleven horses have been confirmed in the final field for the feature race and there is a case to be made for nearly every runner. Colour Charge (barrier 6) will carry a race-high 58kgs, but is drawn well and takes winning form into the race following a dominant performance in the Rockhampton Cup (1600m) on June 24^th. Sheiswhatsheis (barrier 4) also carries winning form into the race and is drawn ideally, while stable mate Pindan Pearl (barrier 3) will be partnered by in-form hoop Jim Byrne and could receive the run of the race from her inside draw. Spur Le Jouer (barrier 10) faces a step-up in class, but has been excellent this time and is a live chance. Crack Me Up (barrier 11) won the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) last time out, but will need to improve to win amongst open company.

Tip: No. 4 Pindan Pearl – Each Way ($13/$3.10)

Race 8 (4:07pm) Carlton Mid BM75 (1350m)

It is an open and capacity field that has been confirmed for Race 8, including Cornrow (barrier 2), Shipwrecked (barrier 3) and Fleur D’Orage (barrier 8). Cornrow went amiss last time out, but is suited to the Doomben track and should be in a position to atone this weekend. Shipwrecked has steadily built to the task this time in and should be ready to peak in this race. Fleur D’Orage was a smart performance on Ipswich Cup Day, but failed to fire last time out and will need to improve. Interstate raider Know How (barrier 16) steps back in class into this race and while charged with overcoming a tough draw, should be difficult to beat.

Race 9 (4:42pm) Winning Edge Presentations Three-Year-Old Handicap (1350m)

There is several smart horses confirmed in the final field for the last race on Tattersall’s Mile Day, however Fabvier (barrier 18) is undoubtedly the one to beat. The three-year-old finished second in her first two starts this time, before flying home to win the Sky Racing Plate (1400m) last time out on June 21^st. Prioritise (barrier 16) is seeking a third-consecutive win, but has also drawn widely, while Switch At Midnight (barrier 11), Congelator (barrier 17) and Hidden Budget (barrier 8) all carry winning form into the race.

Tip: No. 6 Fabvier – Each Way ($11/$3.80)
