Royal Randwick received over 150mm of rain over the past week and was battered by wet weather again last night, but the Australian Turf Club revealed on Twitter this morning that the meeting would go ahead.

“Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas day is going ahead,” the Australian Turf Club tweeted.

“We received 26.8mm in the last 24 hours and the Track is a Heavy 9.”

While the Randwick Guineas meeting is set to go ahead, there has still been a number of crucial scratchings for this afternoons meeting.

Star filly Houtzen has been ruled out of a clash with She Will Reign in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m), while Chauffeur, Jukebox, Khan, Trekking, Muraaqeb and Cuba have been ruled out of the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m).

Prized Icon, Echo Effect and Land Of Plenty have been ruled out of the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m), but the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) will run with its original field.

The Randwick City Stakes has also been affected heavily by scratchings following the withdrawals of Classic Uniform, Our Century, Lord De Air and Impavido, while Zelady’s Night Out and Demolition have both been ruled out of the Listed Fireball Stakes.
