2017 Ramornie Handicap Day has drawn some of the best horses currently in work to Grafton this afternoon and is highlighted by the time-honoured featured sprint, contested over 1200m at Listed level.

We will be covering the 2017 Ramornie Handicap Day results as they happen this afternoon and we are set for an exciting day of country racing.

All the action on 2017 Ramornie Handicap Day will get underway with the running of the Abbey Motor Inn Maiden Plate (1000m) at 12:20pm, while the Grafton Guineas (1600m) is slated for 2:10pm and the feature race is set to be run and won at 4:05pm.

Race 1 (12:20pm) The Abbey Motor Inn Maiden Plate Results

Dubawi Sniper has continued his impressive run of form with a class victory in Race 1 on 2017 Ramornie Handicap Day.

After jumping from the gates well, Dubawi Sniper was driven forward by jockey Ryan Plumb and took an ideal position in transit on the heels of early leaders Western Alliance and Porn Star Pete.

Plumb was forced to change course with the three-year-old several times early in the final straight, but was greeted with a big turn of foot as the horse hit the line well to beat Blackberry by half a length.

Race 2 (12:55pm) Group One Feeds Rural Plate Results

Avroson has produced a superior staying effort to win the Group One Feeds Rural Plate from Suggestpartner this afternoon.

Avroson received plenty of attention from punters in the hours leading up to jump this afternoon and took a handy position within the field of ten as Defence Witness, St Luke and Prince Albert dictated the early terms.

Experiencing an ideal run in transit, jockey Josh Adams allowed the horse plenty of time to balance in the final straight before asking for an extra effort and was rewarded for the decision when the horse comfortably strode clear of his rivals in the final 200m to post his third-consecutive race win.

Race 3 (1:35pm) Grafton Radio Taxis Class 2 Handicap Results

Friskee One has produced an impressive turn of foot to fly home on the outside of the field and win Race 3 on Ramornie Handicap Day.

The daughter of Not A Single Doubt was settled towards the tail of the nine-horse field and settled into a good rhythm as Great Job and Dagga Boy opened a big gap on the field after setting a quick early pace.

Jockey Anthony Cavallo pulled Friskee One wide and into clear running when the field straightened and the mare displayed a superior turn of foot in the final 300m to claim only a third career win.

Race 4 (2:10pm) Tursa Inglis Bonus Grafton Guineas Results

Sneaky Glance has justified his resounding favouritism with a dominant performance to win the Grafton Guineas this afternoon.

Veteran hoop Jeff Lloyd settled the colt towards the tail of the small field as the likes of Image Of Love, Sebrarian and Fit For Purpose traded early blows on pace.

Pulling into the centre of the track when the field straightened, the Husson gelding showed his quality with a big turn of foot to comfortably overcome his rivals.

Race 5 (2:45pm) Winning Edge Presentations Fillies & Mares BM85 Results

Miss Parkin has completed a perfectly-timed performance to win Race 5 at Grafton with complete ease this afternoon.

Having posted a maiden race win at Grafton last time out in early May, the Shaft filly flew the barriers this afternoon and took an ideal position in transit behind All In All, who opened a gap of more than six lengths at the bend.

Remaining calm on the three-year-old, Jockey Tegan Harrison worked Miss Parkin into the clear with 300m to run, who responded with a big turn of foot to comfortably overcome a tiring All In All.

Race 6 (3:25pm) Grafton Gas & Plumbing BM55 Results

Mr Chow has completed an impressive performance to win the Grafton Gas & Plumbing BM55 with 60kgs in tow this afternoon.

The Commands gelding jumped from the gates well and was allowed to take a positive position in transit on the heels of early leaders Yours Mine Ours, Text Me and Akamin.

Offered a clear line upon arriving at the final straight, jockey Nicholas Keal did not wait long to ask the horse for an extra effort and was rewarded for the decision when the horse held on to beat Boolaroo by half a length.

Race 7 (4:05pm) Listed Ramornie Handicap Results

Three-year-old Calanda has held on the final strides of the race to win the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) this afternoon.

Jumping from the gates well, the Snitzel colt took a position within the classy field of sprinters as The Monstar and Lucky Tom took up the early running.

Faced with a big task upon arriving at the final straight, Calanda charged forward and locked in a fierce sprint battle with The Monstar; bobbing his head at the right moment to post his maiden race win.

Race 8 (4:40pm) The Village Green Hotel BM65 Results

Glitra has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to win the final race on 2017 Ramornie Handicap Day.

The Stravinsky gelding flew the barriers and was settled in an ideal position just before the early pace of Show Day and Power Receiver, who injected plenty of early tempo into the race.

Offered a clear line upon arriving at the final straight, the four-year-old did appear to take a while to get going, but timed his run to absolute perfection when beating Smart Devil and Coolotta in a photo.
