There has been plenty of controversy ahead of the Queensland Oaks Day card, but Racing Queensland made the correct decision to move the meeting from the struggling Eagle Farm to Doomben.

Chris Waller has an extremely strong hand in the 2017 Queensland Oaks and it is Australasian Oaks winner Egg Tart that will start the clash as favourite, but her stablemate Dawn Wall has been the best-backed runner with Ladbrokes.

The Queensland Oaks is not the only exciting race set to take place this afternoon and there are a host of talented horses set to do battle.

Keep coming back to horseracing.com.au throughout the day to stay up to date with the complete 2017 Queensland Oaks Day Results.

Pardoe led from start to finish to take out The Phoenix at Doomben this afternoon.

Jockey Hugh Bowman elected to go straight to the lead on Pardoe in the early stages of the race and he ensured that the race was run at a solid tempo.

Pardoe had a number of his rivals off the bit a long way from home and he proved far too strong for his rivals.

  • 1st – Pardoe
  • 2nd – Italia Bella
  • 3rd – Magnufighter

Cellargirl returned to the races with an impressive win in the 2017 JRA Bill Carter Stakes at Doomben this afternoon.

The More Than Ready filly had not been seen at the races since she failed to fire in the Magic Millions Classic in January, but she was clearly primed to fire first-up.

James Orman gave Cellargirl a lovely run in transit and she responded strongly when asked for an extra effort to score a dominant victory.

  • 1st – Cellargirl
  • 2nd – Skate To Paris
  • 3rd – She’s Our Star

A brave ride from jockey Damien Oliver helped Payroll return to winning form in the Spear Chief Handicap at Doomben this afternoon.

Payroll was settled at the tail of the field in the early stages of the Spear Chief Handicap and at the top of the straight she looked like she was going to be blocked for a run.

Oliver managed to maneuver her around High Midnight and she was able to fight-off a gallant Maryore in the concluding stages of the race.

  • 1st – Payroll
  • 2nd – Maryore
  • 3rd – Double Impact

Single Gaze took out the 2017 PJ O’Shea Stakes at Doomben this afternoon, but the race was marred by a tragic injury suffered by Cylinder Beach.

The race was run at a very slow tempo as Hugh Bowman took up the running on Preferment as Single Gaze tracked the leader into the race.

Cylinder Beach loomed up on the outside of Single Gaze, but broke down as soon as she hit the front and that allowed Single Gaze to return to winning form.

  • 1st – Single Gaze
  • 2nd – Rudy
  • 3rd – High Church

Snitty Kitty justified a betting move to score a maiden black-type victory in the 2017 Lightning Handicap at Doomben this afternoon.

Prompt Return took up the running in the early stages of the Lightning Handicap and Tim Clark got Snitty Kitty in a lovely position just behind the speed.

Snitty Kitty took plenty of time to wear down a gallant Prompt Return, but she fought him off in the final stages to record a deserved win.

  • 1st – Snitty Kitty
  • 2nd – Upstart Pride
  • 3rd – Prompt Return

Race 6 (3:20pm) – $175,000 Group 2 Moreton Cup Results

Deploy fought-off Dothraki in the final stages to win the 2017 Moreton Cup at Doomben this afternoon.

Dothraki was well-backed in the lead-up to the Moreton Cup and looked as though he had the race shot to bits, but he was unable to get past a gallant Deploy.

Deploy could now head into the Stradbroke Handicap, but history is against him as no Moreton Cup winner has ever gone on to win the Stradbroke Handicap.

  • 1st – Deploy
  • 2nd – Dothraki
  • 3rd – Perfect Edge

Race 7 (3:59pm) – $500,000 Group 1 Queensland Oaks Results

Egg Tart stamped herself as one of the most talented fillies in the country with an excellent victory in the 2017 Queensland Oaks at Doomben this afternoon.

Kerrin McEvoy settled Egg Tart a long way back and it looked as though she could be blocked for a run, but she eventually found clear running and showed off her outstanding turn-of-foot.

Egg Tart was far too strong for her rivals in the final stages of the race and both trainer Chris Waller and jockey Kerrin McEvoy believe that she has nothing but upside.

  • 1st – Egg Tart
  • 2nd – Pygmy
  • 3rd – Oklahoma Girl

Race 8 (4:33pm) – $100,000 Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes Results

Bonny O’Reilly continued her winning streak with a typically professional victory in the 2017 Helen Coughlan Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

There was massive money for Bonny O’Reilly in the lead-up to the Helen Coughlan Stakes and punters that took the short odds never had cause for concern.

Bonny O’Reilly received a lovely trail into the race and she took the gap with relish when it opened up at the top of the straight.

  • 1st – Bonny O’Reilly
  • 2nd – Selita
  • 3rd – Palazzo Pubblico
