Classy fields have been taken for all eight races on H.G. Bolton Sprint Day, but we have analysed every runner in each, in order to help you find a winner.

The H.G. Bolton Sprint Day action is set to get underway with the running of the Asian Racing Federation Handicappers Plate (1400m) at 12:48pm local time, while the feature race is slated for 4:30pm.

Race 1 (12:48pm) Asian Racing Federation Handicappers Plate (1400m)

Only eight horses will contest the first race at Belmont on Saturday, but the depth of talent has led to it being an open race from a betting perspective. Lob City (barrier 5) has steadily built to the task this time and should be rock-hard fit ahead of this race, while the addition of William Pike to the saddle means that he will be tough to beat. Honorific (barrier 2) will relish the likely-to-be wet track at Belmont on Saturday and has the class and form to win with a race-high 58kgs in tow, while Teacher’s Pet (barrier 4) has been completely luckless of late, but has conditions to suit this weekend and could receive the run of the race from a central draw.

Tip: No. 2 Lob City ($2.05)

Race 2 (1:28pm) Get The Tabtouch Handicap (1000m)

There is several winning chances confirmed in a field of eight for Race 2 at Bemont on HG Bolton Sprint Day. More Aces (barrier 1) was unlucky to be pipped on the line last time out and is positioned well to go one better in this race, while Lockroy (barrier 4) placed third in the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) a fortnight ago and will enjoy a step back in class. Bells Tower (barrier 8) is rock-hard fit and weighted for success with only 54kgs in tow, while Pop Hero (barrier 6) will carry winning form into the race and will appreciate the give of a wet track. Two Silver Trees (barrier 3) won two consecutive races before going extremely close last time out and should be tough to beat.

Tip: No. 3 Lockroy ($5)

Race 3 (2:08pm) Heineken 3 Handicap (2200m)

Only nine horses will line up for Race 3, but there is several winning chances and it is wide open from a betting perspective. Group 1 winner and veteran Ihtsahymn (barrier 8) is yet find peak form this time, but is undoubtedly faced with his most ideal conditions to date in this race. Trainer Fred Kersley will launch a strong three-pronged attack in the race after also confirming North Ridge (barrier 7) and Respondent (barrier 4); also both winning chances. Shinta Mani (barrier 1) will appreciate a step up in distance and will carry only 54kgs, while Rosewood Hill (barrier 9) carries strong and consistent form into the race and will be partnered by William Pike once more.

Tip: No. 4 Rosewood Hill ($1.60)

Race 4 (2:43pm) Amelia Lamb Handicap (1300m)

Eleven horses have been confirmed in the field for Race 4 and there is winning potential in close to every runner. High Conviction (barrier 1) has been strong and consistent throughout a short racing career and appears as though she will relish 1300m, while Presentatie (barrier 3) has steadily built to the task as is drawn ideally. Veuve De Vega (barrier 4) is in ideal racing condition, but faces a step up in class into this field. Go Dutch (barrier 11) is a former Hong Kong galloper, has a class edge on plenty of horses in this field and is undoubtedly over the odds at his current quote. Helms Gate (barrier 6) has been charged with overcoming topweight, but is more than capable.

Tip: 7 Go Dutch – Each Way ($11/$3.20)

Race 5 (3:20pm) Mumm Champagne Handicap (1200m)

Race 5 on HG Bolton Sprint Day is wide open following the scratching of leading contender Cruachan. Royal Command (barrier 7) resumed for a smart win a fortnight ago and will only improve into this race, while Get Over It (barrier 11) has performed well amongst quality company this time and is more that capable. Atlanta Blue (barrier 2) savaged the line for a smart win last time and is drawn to get a similar run this time from an inside draw. General Husson (barrier 6) has not been seen at the races since February, but was outstanding last time in and has trialled well in the lead-up to this race.

Tip: No. 9 Royal Command ($2.15)

Race 6 (3:55pm) Schweppes Handicap (1300m)

There is several impressive horses confirmed to step out in Race 6 on Saturday, including Friaresque (barrier 6). The Blackfriars gelding is seeking a third-consecutive race win, having comfortably won two Belmont sprints in recent weeks. Harry Thomas (barrier 11) has gone extremely close at his two most-recent starts and has the notable advantage of William Pike in the saddle this weekend, while Gunnago (barrier 7) has been dominant in far easier races than this, but is clearly in the right form to make a successful transition to this company on Saturday. Royal Missile (barrier 10) is generally slow from the gates, but harbours a big turn of foot and is a good chance of running on from the tail of the field late.

Tip: No. 1 Friaresque – Each Way ($6.50/$2.20)

Race 7 (4:30pm) Listed H.G. Bolton Sprint (1200m)

Several impressive sprinters will step out in this year’s H.G. Bolton Sprint, however topweight First Among Equals (barrier 3) is again the horse to beat. The multiple black type winner resumed from a freshen-up to win the Listed Northam Stakes (1100m) in May, but was luckless in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) a fortnight later. Having placed second in the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) last time, the son of Exceed And Excel will be rock-hard fit and should just win this race. It’s It (barrier 6) won the Beaufine Stakes and should enjoy another good run in the H.G. Bolton Sprint, while Flying Time (barrier 7) and Meteoroid (Barrier 8) both carry winning form into the feature race.

Tip: No. 1 First Among Equals ($2.45)

Race 8 (5:05pm) Penfolds Handicap (1600m)

A capacity field of sixteen has been confirmed for the final race on H.G. Bolton Sprint Day. Fire Detonator (barrier 20) backs up from an outstanding win in similar conditions last weekend, but has to overcome the outside gate. Romelo (barrier 11) was luckless first-up and with natural improvement, could go very close here with William Pike aboard. Gomer Wipple (barrier 15) has been strong and consistent this time, will enjoy the conditions of this race, but has also drawn awkwardly. By Decree (barrier 1) has plenty of options from the rails draw, carries winning form into the race and should be right in the finish once more.

Tip: No. 8 Romelo – Each Way ($8/$3.30)
