Clear favourite Burning Passion has justified his short quote with a comfortable win in Race 1 on Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup Day this afternoon.

Jumping from the barriers well, jockey Hugh Bowman allowed Burning Passion to stride forward and took an ideal position in transit on the heels of early leaders Trevinder, Skylimit and Top Tone.

Offered a clear line upon arriving at the final straight, the Northern Meteor gelding hit the lead with 200m to run before comfortably finding the line ahead of Trevinder and Rare Occurrence.

Race 2 (12:37pm) Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup Results

Col ‘N’ Lil has produced a typically gusty performance to win the Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup this afternoon.

Taking up the running across the back straight, the Bradbury’s Luck mare set a fair tempo for her classy rivals and opened a gap on the pack rounding onto the final straight.

Kicking clear, Col ‘N’ Lil was joined on the speed by Duca Valentinois, but the small Toowoomba mare dug deep to the line and posted her second stakes win of her 2017 preparation.

Race 3 (1:17pm) Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes Results

Melody Belle has stamped herself as the horse to beat in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) in a fortnight after a dominant win in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes this afternoon.

The Commands filly took an ideal position in transit on the heels of early race leaders Ours To Keep and Malahat, before producing a major turn of foot in the final straight to find the line lengths ahead of closest rival Taking Aim.

Pierata pulled out of the pack in the final stretches of the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes to finish a pleasing third.

Race 4 (1:57pm) Group 3 Premier’s Cup Results

Roughie Kaiser Franz has produced the upset of the day with a smart win in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m).

A $67 chance in Premier’s Cup betting markets prior to jump, the Savabeel gelding worked through the field rounding onto the final straight before producing a superior turn of foot to his classy rivals.

Zambezi Warrior worked to the line well to finish third, while The Chairman held on to beat Kiwi raider Benzini into third position.

Race 5 (2:35pm) Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes Results

Order Again has held on to beat Volatile Mix in a photo finish to this afternoon’s Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m).

The talented three-year-old was settled within the Grand Prix Stakes after jumping well and produced a big turn of foot in the final straight to pull clear of his rivals with 200m to run.

Appearing to have the race won a long way from home, the Iffraaj gelding was lucky to get the bob on Group 1 winner Volatile Mix, who flew home to complete a strong lead-in to the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) in a fortnight.

Race 6 (3:15pm) Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes Results

Eckstein has flown home on the fence to beat a fast-finishing Egyptian Symbol and Sold For Song in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) this afternoon.

The Canberra-trained mare was only considered an outside chance of winning the Glenlogan Park Stakes this afternoon, but found clear running on the inside of the capacity field upon straightening and was a comfortable winner.

The three-year-old will progress to a start in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) in a fortnight, before the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) as a final point of call this time in.

Race 7 (3:55pm) Group 1 Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup Results

Clearly Innocent has produced a career-best performance to secure a dominant win in the Group 1 Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) this afternoon.

The Not A Single Doubt gelding took a position within the field of sprinters as Jungle Edge and Music Magnate took up the early running and was produced by jockey Hugh Bowman in the final straight in time to run down the former.

Jungle Edge’s impressive campaign continued with a brave second, while market mover Counterattack worked to the line well to finish third.

Race 8 (4:32pm) Group 3 Fred Best Classic Results

Niccanova has beaten a smart field of three-year-olds to the line to win the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1400m) and officially conclude this afternoon’s Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup Day results.

The Nicconi gelding took a position within the classy field in transit, before flying home on the outside of the field to beat Sylpheed by half a length.

Interstate raider I Thought So returned to competitive form with a credible performance to finish third.
