2017 Breeders Classic Day Results: In Her Time Salutes

We will be covering the 2017 Breeders Classic Day Results all afternoon and there are a number of interesting races set to take place at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

The Breeders Classic Day has been won by some of the most popular mares in Australia over the past decade and there are plenty of talented mares set to contest the 2017 edition of the race.

Throw in the Eskimo Prince Stakes and the Lonhro Plate and you have an excellent day of racing, so don’t miss out on any of the results this afternoon.

Race 9 (5:45pm) – It’s On In Sydney Handicap Results

Deploy held-off a fast-finishing Got Unders to record his fourth straight victory in the It’s On In Sydney Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Deploy was up in weight and class for the fourth start in a row, but he always looked like the winner and cruised to the victory at the top of the straight.

Got Unders loomed on the outside late, but Deploy was able to tough it out in the final stages to maintain his unbeaten record as a gelding.

Race 8 (5:05pm) – The Star Club Handicap Results

Liapari showed an impressive turn-of-foot to return to winning form in The Star Club Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

The Nom du Jeu gelding was a good thing beaten by Olympic Academy last start, but Brenton Avdulla was leaving nothing to chance this afternoon and lifted him to victory.

Ron Quinton-trained Imanui was well-backed in the lead-up to The Star Club Handicap and he savaged the line, but the post appeared just a stride too quickly.

Race 7 (4:25pm) – Group 2 Breeders Classic Results

In Her Time defied a betting drift to record an extremely tough victory in the 2017 Breeders Classic at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

There was no bigger drifter on course at Randwick than In Her Time, but nobody told the horse and she fought back in the final stages of the race to score the biggest win of her racing career.

Trainer Ben Smith has had a troubled start to his trainer career and he was clearly emotional to have taken out a Group 2 event.

Egyptian Symbol loomed as the winner in the final 100 metres and went past In Her Time at one stage, but was unable to finish the job.

Race 6 (3:45pm) – Eskimo Prince Stakes Results

Man From Uncle upstaged a number of more fancied rivals to score a fast-finishing win in the 2017 Eskimo Prince Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Guard Of Honour and Spending To Win looked set to fight out the finish in the Eskimo Prince Stakes, but Man From Uncle appeared on the scene late to claim victory.

Trainer Anthony Cummings has a big opinion of the promising three-year-old and he revealed that he will now head towards the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m).

Race 5 (3:10) – Highway Handicap Results

I Told Georgie swooped down the outside of the Royal Randwick track to record an upset win in the Highway Handicap.

I Told Georgie was a long way back at the top of the straight and it looked as though the well-backed Clipper would cruise to victory, but it was the get-back horses that finished the strongest.

L’elu and I Told Georgie came down the outside, but it was the daughter of I Am Invincible that showed an impressive turn-of-foot to score the biggest win of her racing career.

Race 4 (2:35pm) – The Chi-X Sprint Results

Dal Cielo flew home in the final stages to make it two wins on the trot in the Chi-X Sprint at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Aegean Sea set the pace in the early stages and made sure that the race was run at genuine tempo, but Dal Cielo was still overracing at the top of the straight.

Heart Testa and Aegean Sea looked as though they would fight out the finish, but Dal Cielo got going late to finish over the top of his rivals and record an impressive win.

Race 3 (2:00pm) – Schweppes Gardenia Handicap Results

Religify led from start to finish to record a dominant victory in the Schweppes Gardenia Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Religify jumped quickly to take up the running from Strawberry Boy and Testashadow and he took a while to settle, but eventually found a nice rhythm.

He kicked away when asked for an extra effort at the top of the straight and he never looked like getting beaten.

Race 2 (1:25pm) – Lonhro Hinchinbrook Plate Results

Veranillo stamped himself as a genuine Golden Slipper contender with a win in the 2017 Lonhro Hinchinbrook Plate at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Eden Roc took up the running in the early stages of the Lonhro Hinchinbrook Plate and was one of the first horses beaten, but Vernaillo also looked in trouble when Cuba went past him at the 250 metre mark.

Veranillo fought back in the final stages to take up the running and he held-off Exceeds in the final stages to make it two wins from as many starts.

Trainer John O’Shea indicated that the Golden Slipper is now on the agenda for Veranillo and he believes the application of blinkers could prove crucial in the feature race.

Race 1 (12:45pm) – ALM Handicap Results

It did not go all to plan for Brenton Avdulla, but Montauk was still able to finish over the top of his rivals to win the ALM Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Avdulla looked to have missed the boat when he found himself in a pocket on Montauk at the top of the straight, but the More Than Ready gelding eventually found clear running and savaged the line in impressive fashion in the final 100 metres.

Gold Ambition took up the running in the early stages of the race and Tye Angland was able to control the race, but he did not have the sprint to match his rival.
