The Australasian Oaks is the obvious highlight at Morpehttvile and it is a particularly open edition of the race.

Darren Weir-trained Kenedna is currently a clear favourite in the Australasian Oaks betting market with Ladbrokes, but there has also been money for progressive filly Egg Tart and Danny O’Brien-trained Toffee Nose.

The Robert Sangster Stakes is the other Group 1 event on this card and the market suggests that it will be a battle between Group 1 winning mares English and Sheidel as well as Rubiton Stakes winner Super Cash.

There are six other interesting races set to take place at Royal Randwick this afternoon and you can stay up to date with all the action below.

2017 Australasian Oaks Day Results

Race 1 (12:09pm) – $100,000 MAC Drink Driving Grow Up Handicap Results

Royal Rumble swooped home from the tail of the field to record an impressive win in the MAC Drink Driving Grow Up Handicap at Morphettville this afternoon.

Claire Lindop elected to settle Royal Rumble at the tail of the field in the early stages, but took the initiative and got her mount going a long way from home.

Royal Rumble took his time to get past Ashdam and a wayward Model Dragon, but he found the line better than his rivals to get the job done.

  • 1st: Royal Rumble
  • 2nd: Ashdam
  • 3rd: Master Zephyr

Race 2 (12:44pm) – $100,000 Carbine Club Handicap Results

Second Bullet justified his favourtism with an impressive win in the 2017 Carbine Club Handicap at Morphettville this afternoon.

Damien Oliver went straight to the lead on Second Bullet in the early stages of the race, but Todd Parnell made a mid-race move to take up the running on Evangelist.

Race 3 (1:24pm) – $125,000 Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes Results

Indian Thunder got his nose down at the right time to score a narrow win in a thrilling edition of the 2017 Queen Adelaide Stakes at Morphettville this afternoon.

Damian Lane elected to ride Indian Thunder for luck in the early stages of the race and looked as though he might be blocked for a run, but a gap opened up and he bolted through it.

Indian Thunder stopped to have a look around when he joined It’s A Myth and Mintha, but he was still able to do enough in the final stages to take out the Queen Adelaide Stakes.

  • 1st: Indian Thunder
  • 2nd: It’s A Myth
  • 3rd: Mintha

Race 4 (2:04pm) – $175,000 Group 3 DC McKay Stakes Results

Karacatis led from start to finish to record a brave victory in a thrilling edition of the 2017 DC McKay Stakes.

Karacatis took up the running in the early stages of the race, but he looked like a sitting duck when Faatinah, Kapernick, Casino Wizard and Reldas all loomed on the outside.

The veteran sprinter looked absolutely no chance to hold on, but he did just that to claim one of the biggest victories of his racing career to date.

Bassett started the DC McKay Stakes as a clear favourite, but he was blocked for a run in the straight and never received clear running.

  • 1st: Karacastis
  • 2nd: Reldas
  • 3rd: Kaepernick

Race 5 (2:44pm) – $275,000 Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes Results

Amelie’s Star stormed over the top of her rivals to record her first race win in over 18 months in the 2017 Queen Of The South Stakes.

Damian Lane was happy to settle Amelie’s Star towards the tail of the field in the early stages of the race and she cruised into the race at the top of the straight before proving far too strong for her rivals late.

The Queen Of The South Stakes win was the first victory for Amelie’s Star since her dominant victory in the 2015 edition of the Colin Stephen Quality.

  • 1st: Amelie’s Star
  • 2nd: Have Another Glass
  • 3rd: Miles Of Krishan

Race 6 (3:24pm) – $500,000 Group 1 Australasian Oaks Results

It was billed as a battle between Chris Waller and Darren Weir and it more than delivered.

Kenedna and Egg Tart were the only horses that punters wanted in the lead-up to the Australasian Oaks and they fought it out in the finish of a truly epic Group 1 affair.

Kenedna saved plenty of ground up on the inside and looked as though she was going to deliver trainer Darren Weir another Group 1 victory, but Kerrin McEvoy timed his run to perfection on Egg Tart and she hit the front in the shadows of the post to record a memorable Australasian Oaks win.

  • 1st: Egg Tart
  • 2nd: Kenedna
  • 3rd: Ana Royale

Race 7 (4:04pm) – $1,000,000 Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes Results

Damien Oliver rode Secret Agenda aggressively in the early stages of the Robert Sangster Stakes and she was able to cross the field to take up the running from the expected leader Sheidel.

Secret Agenda quickly kicked clear from her rivals at the top of the straight and she never looked like stopping as she recorded her maiden Group 1 victory in most impressive fashion.

  • 1st: Secret Agenda
  • 2nd: Viddora
  • 3rd: I Am A Star

Race 8 (4:44pm) – $500,000 Group 2 Euclase Stakes Results

Sweet Sherry held-off a fast-finishing Fuhryk to return to winning form in the 2017 Euclase Stakes at Morphettville this afternoon.

Sweet Sherry hit the front a long way from home and was clearly a tired horse in the concluding stages, but she did enough to claim her first race win since she took out the Crockett Stakes during the 2016 Spring Racing Carnival.

So You Too was a big drifter in betting, but he produced one of the best performances of his racing career to date to round out the placings.

  • 1st: Sweet Sherry
  • 2nd: Fuhryk
  • 3rd: So You Too
