2017 All Aged Stakes Day Results: Tivaci Wins

The 2017 All Aged Stakes Day results will be updated throughout the afternoon at horseracing.com.au and our coverage will include all nine races.

The All Aged Stakes is the obvious highlight at Royal Randwick this afternoon and it is last year’s winner English that will start the race as a clear favourite from the ultra-consistent Le Romain, Newmarket Handicap winner Redkirk Warrior and the well-backed Tivaci.

Invader produced an excellent performance to win the Sires Produce Stakes a fortnight ago and he will go into the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) as an odds-on favourite to complete the double.

There are seven other fascinating races set to take place at Royal Randwick this afternoon and you can stay up to date with all the action below.

2017 All Aged Stakes Day Results

Race 1 (12:00am) – $60,000 Highway Handicap Results

Mercurial Lad justified the support of punters to take out the Highway Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Mercurial Lad settled in second position and was forced to take the field up to Fermanagh Lad before he took up the running at the 300 metre mark.

He looked to be a sitting duck as War Hero loomed on the outside, but Mercurial Lad kept finding the line to record a tough win.

Race 2 (12:40pm) – $100,000 IGA Liquor Handicap Results

Untamed Diamond hit the front at the right time to take out the IGA Liquor Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Sweet Serendipity took up the running in the early stages of the IGA Liquor Handicap and looked as though he had the race won, but he tired late and it was Untamed Diamond that got his nose down on the post.

The victory was a special one for the Collett family, with Jason Collett riding the winner for his father Richard Collett.

Race 3 (1:15pm) – $600,000 Group 3 Frank Packer Plate Results

Mongolian Wolf continued the outstanding form of New Zealand three-year-olds in Australia to take out the Frank Packer Plate.

Brenton Avdulla gave Mongolian Wolf a lovely run in transit and his timed his ride to perfection to finish over the top of Veladero late.

Mongolian Wolf failed to fire in the New Zealand Derby, but that form stood up once again and he looks to set to head towards the Queensland Derby.

Race 4 (1:20pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes Results

Redzel bounced back to winning form with a tough front-running effort in the Hall Mark Stakes.

Redzel had not been seen at the races since he finished a close second behind Russian Revolution in The Galaxy, but he was well-backed in the lead-up to the Hall Mark Stakes.

Kerrin McEvoy went straight to the lead on Redzel and he ran out the 1200 metres strongly to return to winning form.

Race 5 (2:25pm) – $150,000 Group 3 JRA Plate Results

Top Of My List made all the running to take out the 2017 JRA Plate at Royal Randwick this morning.

Tim Clark took Top Of My List straight to the lead in the early stages of the race and was able to dictate the race throughout.

Astronomos loomed on the outsider, but was one of the first horses beaten and Top Of My List held-off Sons Of John to claim victory.

Race 6 (3:05pm) – $500,000 Group 1 Champagne Stakes Results

The Mission led from start to finish to record a stunning victory in the 2017 Champagne Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

The Mission took up the running in the early stages of the Champagne Stakes, but looked to be going far too quickly and really stretched out the field.

The short-priced favourite Invader did the chasing at the top of the straight, but he was unable to run down The Mission who was very strong on the line.

Race 7 (3:45pm) – $600,000 Group 1 All Aged Stakes Results

Tivaci defied the track pattern at Royal Randwick this afternoon to record an impressive victory in the 2017 All Aged Stakes.

It looked as though Le Romain and Jungle Edge would fight out the finish, but Tivaci stormed down the outside in the final 100 metres to steal victory.

Tivaci is set to be retired to stand at Waikato Stud at the end of his current campaign, but trainer Mike Moroney indicated that a trip to Brisbane could still be on the agenda.

Race 8 (4:25pm) – $150,000 Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes Results

Raiment returned to her best form with a dominant display in the 2017 JHB Carr Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

James Doyle could not find a position on Raiment in the early stages of the Carr Stakes and she was caught wide throughout the Carr Stakes, but she pulled her away into the race.

Doyle went for home on Raiment top of the straight and she stormed clear from her rivals to record a dominant victory.

  • 3rd: Smart Amelia

Race 9 (5:05pm) – $100,000 The Hong Jockey Club Trophy Results

Kellyville Flyer stormed down the outside of the field to take out the 2017 Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Duca Valentinois hit the front at the top of  the straight and looked as though he had the race shot to bits, but Kellyville Flyer savaged the line down the outside of the track to claim victory.
