2016 Caulfield Stakes Form Guide: Winx v Black Heart Bart

The 2016 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes Form Guide looks to be very straight forward with the all-conquering Winx only having to take on two opponents in the form of the Darren Weir trained Black Heart Bart and He Or She from Lindsay Park.

Black Heart Bart will be trying to end Winx’s winning run which will be twelve on the trot if she wins the Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes.

The Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday is worth $600,000 and is run under weight for age conditions over the distance of 2000m.

Melbourne’s premiership winning trainer Darren Weir is happy to take on the super mare Winx with his multiple Group 1 winning Black Heart Bart to get a good guide of his chances when they clash again in the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 22. Black Heart Bart is the winner of three Group 1 races with his first win at the elite level in the $500,000 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 21. Black Heart Bart claimed his second Group 1 trophy with a first up victory in the $500,000 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 27 and was in the Group 1 winner’s stall last start taking out the $500,000 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 24. Sandwiched in between those two Group 1 wins was a second to stablemate Palentino in the Group 1 $500,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 10.

  1. 2. He Or She

He Or She is yet to win at Group 1 level for the Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig but has been racing in the best form of his career with Group 1 placings at his last two starts. He Or She made up some ground from the back when third to Palentino in the $500,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 10 followed by a second to Black Heart Bart in the $500,000 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 24. A third placing looks on the cards again.

Super mare Winx only has two rivals to take care of to chalk up her twelfth win on the trot after being undefeated since winning the Group 3 $125,000 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast during the 2015 Queensland Winter Carnival. Along the way the Chris Waller trained mare has collected seven Group 1 trophies including the 2015 Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley. Winx kicked off her defence of the Cox Plate with two Spring Carnival wins, a first up cake walk in the Group 2 $250,000 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 20 followed by a win in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White Stakes (George Main Stakes) (1600m) at Randwick on September 17.
