Jameka was far too good for her rivals in the 2016 Caulfield Cup results this afternoon.

Jockey Nick Hall gave Jameka an outstanding run in transit and she trailed the leaders into the straight before she exploded when she was asked for an extra effort.

Jameka raced away form her rivals in the final stages to put a gap on a gallant Scottish, while Exospheric made up plenty of ground late to finish third.

Hall had to work extremely hard to get his weight down to 52.5 kilograms to take the ride on Jameka and he was clearly delighted to have won the race for the second time.

Ciaron Maher was confident that Jameka had a faultless preparation following her win in the Naturalism Stakes and her second place finish in the Turnbull Stakes and his star mare capped off an outstanding performance.

Jameka’s has been nominated for the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley next Saturday, October 22, and the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on Tuesday November 1, but Maher is uncertain of where the star mare will race next.

Race 1 – 2016 MyPunter.Com Plate Results

Jennifer Lynn upstaged the well-backed Sylpheed to record an upset victory in the 2016 MyPunter.Com Plate.

Sylpheed went into the race as a dominant favourite, but she was caught wide in the early stages of the race and Damien Oliver was forced to make a move in the early stages of the race.

She did not offer a great deal when she was asked for an extra effort from Damien Oliver in the straight and it was Darren Weir-trained Jennifer Lynn that swooped late to get the job done with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

Weir has a strong hand at Caulfield this afternoon including JRA Cup winner Real Love in the Caulfield Cup.

Peacock

Peacock received a masterful ride from Dwayne Dunn to record a narrow victory in the 2016 Gothic Stakes at Caulfield.

Dunn found cover for Peacock in the early stages of the race just behind the speed and that proved crucial as he was able to avoid the heavy head-wind in the early stages.

Peacock responded strongly when asked for an extra effort and he was too strong for both Violate and beaten favourite Acatour in the final stages of the race.

Trainer John O’Shea revealed that Peacock will not head to the Carbine Club Stakes, but he said that beaten duo Morton’s Fork and Trenchant will head to the Group 3 event at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

Race 3 – 2016 Alinghi Stakes Results

Palazzo Pubblico returned to the races with a fast-finishing victory in the 2016 Alinghi Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Conatus mare had not been seen at the races since she failed to fire in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 25, but she showed an impressive turn-of-foot to record one of the biggest victories of her racing career to date.

Early favourite Super Cash was scratched from the race at the barriers, while Team Snowden-trained Flippant had absolutely no luck in running.

Kiwi filly Eleonora stamped herself as a genuine 2016 Crown Oaks contender with a strong staying victory in the Ethereal Stakes.

Damien Oliver gave Eleonora a perfect run in transit and the granddaughter of Ethereal responded strongly when asked for an extra effort at the top of the straight and she put away her rivals in convincing fashion.

The hard-luck story of the race was Darren Weir-trained Tiamo Grace, who was blocked for a run for the majority of the straight and stormed home when she found clear running.

The Ethereal Stakes has proven to be a key form reference to the Crown Oaks in recent years, with Set Square the last horse to complete the double back in 2014.

Good Standing led from start to finish to record a tough victory in the 2016 Ladbrokes Classic at Caulfield this afternoon.

Blake Shinn elected to take up the running in the early stages of the Ladbrokes Classic and he was able to control the race throughout before he kicked away at the top of the straight.

Rocketeer stormed home in the final stages, but Good Standing was able to hold on in the final stages of the race.

Good Standing has raced at the highest level of racing throughout his racing career and he is a chance to head to the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington in a fortnight.

Race 6 – 2016 Coongy Cup Results

Vanbrugh fought-off Tom Melbourne to return to winning form in the 2016 Coongy Cup at Caulfield this afternoon.

Jockey Ben Melham gave Vanbrugh an outstanding run in transit and he timed his run to perfection to prove too strong for his rivals.

It’s Somewhat went into the Coongy Cup as a clear favourite, but he did not have any luck and Hugh Bowman was unable to find clear running until the final 100 metres.

The Cleaner tired late once again and retirement surely must be on the cards.

First Seal returned to winning form with a fast-finishing victory in the 2016 Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.

Tycoon Tara was too strong for First Seal in the Golden Pendant first-up, but First Seal clearly took plenty of benefit from the run and she was able to turn-the-tables on her rival in the final stages.

Blake Shinn was delighted to help First Seal return to winning form and her Tristarc Stakes victory delivered him a Caulfield Cup Day treble.

Race 9 – 2016 Caulfield Sprint Results

Our Boy Malachi stormed home from the tail of the field to record a most impressive victory in the 2016 Caulfield Sprint.

Dwayne Dunn elected to ride Our Boy Malachi conservatively in the early stages of the race and the Rockhampton Rocket showed the turn-of-foot that he possesses to quickly put away in his rivals in the final stages of the race.

Lankan Rupee was making his much awaited return to the races and he did not have a great deal of luck in running, but he still found the line strongly in a very promising performance.

Race 10 – 2016 Ladbrokes Moonga Stakes Results

Voodoo Lad put paid to his rivals to return to winning form in the 2016 Ladbrokes Moonga Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.

Voodoo Lad finished second behind Bon Aurum in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield three weeks ago, but there was no denying him in the Ladbrokes Moonga Stakes as he stormed home in impressive fashion.

Takedown had no luck in running, but was eventually able to find clear running for a strong second while Turnitaround returned to the races with an eye-catching third at big odds.
