2015 Toorak Handicap Tips: Lucky Hussler Primed

Racing analyst Daniel O’Sullivan has Lucky Hussler on top of his 2015 Toorak Handicap tips and he believes that the six-year-old is primed for the Group 1 event at Caulfield tomorrow.

Lucky Hussler returned to the races with a fast-finishing fourth in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 12 and he had no luck whatsoever when he finished sixth in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26.

O’Sullivan told RSN that Lucky Hussler lost at least a length in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and he is confident that the Husson gelding is ready to reach his peak in the 2015 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield this weekend.

“Lucky Hussler was very unlucky in the Rupert Clarke last start and if you use a conservative judgement and add back a length that certainly puts him into this race if you consider his prospect to his well-established previous peaks,” O’Sullivan said.

“That puts him into this as clearly the best chance in the race.

“From barrier four he is drawn to get a pretty good run, he is well proven at a mile and I really like Darren Weir horses as they get further into their preparation.

“He is the horse to beat.”

Disposition is currently available at 2015 Toorak Handicap odds of $4.80 with Ladbrokes and O’Sullivan admits that the Reset gelding is the major danger to Lucky Hussler in the Group 1 event.

The four-year-old was only narrowly denied by Stratum Star in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and O’Sullivan is confident that the Group 1 placegetter will relish the step-up to a mile in the Toorak Handicap.

“Disposition looks the natural danger,” O’Sullivan said.

“He was pretty sound there when beaten by Stratum Star in the Rupert Clarke and he can go ahead here.

“He is well proven over 1600 metres and he was only beaten a nose over 1800 in the Kingston Town back in his Western Australia days.

“That was a high pressure race and there is absolutely no issues with him handling 1600 metres in a high pressure situation.”

Disposition ($4.80) remains a narrow favourite in the 2015 Toorak Handicap with Ladbrokes from Lucky Hussler ($5.50), Stratum Star ($7), Noble Protector ($9), Abidewithme ($12), Strawberry Boy ($13), Hi World ($15) and Hopfgarten ($17).
