2015 The Goodwood Tips: Plenty Of Value On Offer

Dean The Trial Spy has Lucky Hussler on top of his 2015 The Goodwood tips, but the leading form analyst believes that there are plenty of horses that represent value in the betting market for the Group 1 event at Morphettville tomorrow.

Lucky Hussler had flown under the radar a little bit heading into the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m), but he is taking strong form into the race after taking out the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 7 and finishing a close sixth in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on April 18.

The Champion Picks Racing expert told RSN that the application of blinkers will help Lucky Hussler and he is more than happy to back the five-year-old at his current The Goodwood odds of $6.

“You look at Lucky Hussler who won the William Reid first-up and then ran a close sixth in the All Aged behind Dissident,” he said.

“With the blinkers on again and G Boss aboard he rates highly and I do think that the $6.50 there is good value.”

While Dean The Trial Spy fancies the chances of Lucky Hussler in The Goodwood, he also believes that the in-form Lord Of The Sky and last year’s winner Smokin’ Joey both represent value at their current quotes with Ladbrokes.

Lord Of The Sky finished fourth behind Brazen Beau in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 14 before he was only narrowly denied by Chautauqua in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 6, while the form analyst believes that Smokin’ Joey will be storming home in the final stages of the race and will have every possible chance to become the first horse since 1912 to win The Goodwood in back-to-back years.

“At bigger odds you have Smokin’ Joey, who won the race last year and he was second in Group 1 company in the Futurity two starts back,” he said.

“The $26 looks real overs for a horse that won the race last year and with all the pace on he is going to really appreciate that and he will be steaming home down the outside like he did last year, so he is a big price there.

“Lord Of The Sky is another that ran fourth to Brazen Beau, Chautauqua and Terravista in the Newmarket and he was second only beaten a nose to Chautauqua in the T.J. Smith Stakes.

“Any of those horses mentioned would be favourite in this race and he is very appealing.

“The risk is the wide gate and will he get across, while the last 100 metres could be a test, but he has D Oliver on board.”

Black Heart Bart is currently available at 2015 The Goodwood odds of $4.40 with Ladbrokes and is a narrow favourite from Hucklebuck ($4.50), Lucky Hussler ($6), Under The Louvre ($8.50), Vain Queen ($11) and Gregers ($15).
