Form analyst Daniel O’Sullivan has Contributer on top of his 2015 Ranvet Stakes tips and he believes that the likely slow pace in the Group 1 event will help the imported galloper record a third straight victory at Rosehill Gardens tomorrow.

Only seven horses were included in the 2015 Ranvet Stakes field that was released earlier in the week and New Zealand-trained galloper Fast Dragon is the only horse in the field with any early speed, which O’Sullivan suggests will lead to the Ranvet Stakes being run at nothing more than an even tempo.
O’Sullivan told RSN that turn-of-foot will be key in the final stages of the Ranvet Stakes due to the lack of tempo and the Smartform Racing analyst said that because of that he is happy to back Contributer at his current Ranvet Stakes odds of $2.50.
“The key thing about Contributer is that he is a middle distance horse with a very good turn-of-foot,” O’Sullivan said.
“When the jockey pushes the go button on him he can pick up right away and sprint and we saw that last start when he faced the likes of He’s Your Man, Silent Achiever and Lucia Valentina in the Chipping Norton.
“In another slowly run race here it is going to be that turn-of-foot rather than sustained speed and stamina over 2000 metres that is going to be the key to success and that is where Contributer still holds an edge over the other horses.
“$2.30 is a reasonable price and it is certainly not unders.
“I think He’s Your Man is improving with every run and if was going to be a strong run 2000 metres then horses like he, Silent Achiever and even Lucia Valentina would come much closer to Contributer, but in a slowly run race here Contributer still has the edge.”
Japanese galloper Tosen Stardom is one of the most interesting runners in the Ranvet Stakes field and he will be making his Australian racing debut in the Group 1 event this weekend.
O’Sullivan said that he has a high opinion of Tosen Stardom and feels that he has the talent to win the Ranvet Stakes, but does not see a great deal of an edge at his current price and is happy to leave him out of his selections.
“I really can’t have him in this race,” O’Sullivan said.
“I have a huge amount of respect for the Japanese runners, but when I try to line up the international ratings and try to get them to my scale then I think he just falls short of some of the better chances.
“I am happy to risk him in this race, but he could come out and blow them away.”
Contributer is currently available at Ranvet Stakes odds of $2.50 with Ladbrokes and is a clear favourite from Tosen Stardom ($4.80), He’s Your Man ($4.80), Silent Achiever ($5.50) and Lucia Valentina ($6.50).
