2015 Flight Stakes Tips: Sempre Libera The Value

Form expert Ron Dufficy has Sempre Libera on top of his 2015 Flight Stakes tips and he believes that the promising filly is great value at her current odds for the Group 1 event that will be held at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Sempre Libera has only recorded one race win from five starts and she returned to racing with a fourth place finish behind Pearls in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on September 19, but Dufficy believes that there was plenty of merit in the run of the Medaglia D’Oro filly and he told Sky Racing HQ that she is a great each-way bet in the Flight Stakes.

“Sempre Libera I don’t think you can miss each-way here,” Dufficy said.

“There was a lot to like about her first-up run.

“She had a few little excuses there, but I loved the way that she looked in the yard and I loved the way that she has developed.

“I think she is going to develop into a Wakeful filly and to do that she has to perform well here.

“I think that is safe each-way at the $8.50 and I like the price.”

Speak Fondly is currently a dominant favourite in 2015 Flight Stakes betting markets and Dufficy admits that the daughter of Northern Meteor is the horse to beat in the Group 1 event.

The three-year-old proved far too good for her rivals when she took out the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 22 and the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at the same venue, but Dufficy is unsure how she will handle the three week gap between runs after she finished second behind Exosphere in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 12.

“Obviously Speak Fondly is the name on everyone’s lips and even Gai won’t here of her getting beat,” Dufficy said.

“She certainly has the best form, the Golden Rose form, but it is three weeks since that last run and she is going to a mile.

“She was on a back-up going into that Golden Rose as a bit of an afterthought, but from all reports she has trained on beautifully and only has to run the distance.”

Speak Fondly is currently available at 2015 Flight Stakes odds of $2.50 with Ladbrokes and she is a dominant favourite from Pearls ($7), Sempre Libera ($7.50) and Honesta ($9).
