2015 Crown Oaks Day Results: Jameka Wins 2015 Crown Oaks

Nine talent-rich races have been confirmed to run on 2015 Crown Oaks Day at Flemington this afternoon; highlighted by five black type races including the featured event for three-year-old fillies over 2500m.

2015 Crown Oaks Day results will officially get underway with the running of the Red Rock Deli BM70 (1700m) for fillies and mares at 12:05pm local time; passing through races like the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m) and Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) and concluding with the running of the Crown Resorts Plate (1600m) at 5:20pm.

Race 1 Red Rock Deli Plate Results

Clear race favourite Yellen has produced a strong effort to take out the Red Rock Deli BM75 (1700m) to deliver the combination of Chris Waller and Hugh Bowman a win early on 2015 Crown Oaks Day.

Yellen received huge support from punters in the lead-up to jump, but was forced to settle wide after being held off the fence from the barriers and received a tough run in transit as a result.

Rounding onto the final straight alongside the likes of Royal Ocean, Monopole and Champagne Cocktail, Bowman allowed the filly time to balance before asking for an extra effort and Yellen completed the brave effort in style; hitting the line a length in the clear of Unfurl.

Four-year-old Berisha has continued his good run of form through the Spring Carnival at Flemington this afternoon; completing a perfectly-timed ride for success in the Swisse Wellness Trophy (1800m).

Berisha was charged with overcoming a wide draw at Flemington this afternoon but did his chances of success no harm when jumping well and settling just off the pace of early leader High Midnight over the back straight.

Offered a clear racing line upon reaching the final straight, the Al Samer gelding locked in a fierce sprint battle with Plot The Course with 300m to run; kicking well to hit the line a head in the clear.

Race 3 Off The Track Subzero Challenge Results

Talented runner Slate On Edge has produced an impressive start-to-finish performance to beat a classy field of greys to the line in the Off The Track Subzero Challenge (1400m).

Slate On Edge flew the barriers at Flemington this afternoon and was allowed to stride forward by jockey Dwayne Dunn; immediately taking up the pace alongside the likes of Waitaha Prophecy and Harbour Grey and set a reasonably tempo from the outset.

Hugging the rails rounding onto the final straight, the Zariz gelding continued to stride away from his rivals in the final straight; Dunn barely having to do anything as his mount jogged clear and hit the line comfortably ahead of Secret Toy Bizness.

Secret Agenda showed an impressive turn-of-foot to record a dominant performance in the 2015 Gucci Stakes at Flemington this afternoon.

The talented filly was settled just behind the leaders on the inside of the track in the Gucci Stakes and she responded extremely well when asked for an extra effort by jockey Damien Oliver to claim a maiden win at black-type level.

Race 5 Listed TV Stakes Results

Outsider Hursley produced a strong late turn of foot to beat a number of talented three-year-olds to the line in the Listed TV Stakes (1800m) at Flemington this afternoon.

Hursley jumped from the gates well and was settled within the field of fifteen by jockey Craig Williams; switching off and receiving an ideal run in transit on the fence.

Rounding onto the straight with plenty to do, Hursley immediately responded when asked for an extra effort; weaving through the field and reaching the lead pair with less than $200 to go and extending to post a maiden black type victory.

Race 6 Listed Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes Results

The Quarterback has mustered a monumental turn of foot to make up a lot of ground late and win the Listed Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes (1000m).

Jockey Mathew Allen was forced to settle The Quarterback at the rear of the field in the early stages of the Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes after only a fair jump, but the horse responded favourably by settling into a good rhythm.

Pushing The Quarterback to the outside rail with 400m to run, Allen was rewarded for his effort when the five-year-old produced an incredible late sprint to pip Wild Rain on the line, who has elected to run on the inside of the Flemington straight.

Race 7 Group 3 GH Mumm Stakes Results

Talented mare Pittsburgh Flyer has produced an impressive late effort to poke clear and win the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) down the Flemington straight this afternoon.

Pittsburgh Flyer jumped from the gates well and settled in prime position just off the pace of the race’s early leaders, receiving a good run on the inside of the pack hugging the outside rail.

Kicking up gear with 300m to run, James McDonald led Pittsburgh Flyer through the field and locked in a fierce pace battle with Dublin Lass on the other side of the course; poking clear at the right moment for success.

The Ciaron Maher-trained Jameka has broken through for a maiden victory at the highest level with a gutsy start-to-finish performance to win the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington this afternoon.

Damien Oliver allowed Jameka to stride forward after jumping from the gates well; leading the field past the post the first time and setting a fair tempo.

Backing his filly to fight to the line, Oliver pulled a length in front of the field rounding onto the final straight and the Myboycharlie filly did the rest; continuing to find and hitting the line more than a length ahead of a fast-finishing Honesta.

Race 9 Crown Resorts Plate Results

Jockey James McDonald’s bold decision to pus Zebrinz to the outside rail in the final straight at Flemington this afternoon as the talented gelding produced a big late sprint to take out the card-closing Crown Hotels Plate (1600m) and draw and end to 2015 Crown Oaks Day results.

Zebrinz settled off the pace of early leaders Leveraction, Excites Zelady and Burning Front over the back straight as McDonald elected to follow retiring hoop Jim Cassidy on Distant Rock.

Rounding onto the straight wide and with plenty to do, the five-year-old produced one of the day’s great efforts to post a fifth career win.
