Our team of horse racing analysts have studied the form of every single runner in the Adelaide Cup field to come up with our selections for the Group 2 event that will be held at Morphettville this afternoon.
1st #3 Renew ($5)
Renew has been one of the best-backed runners in 2015 Adelaide Cup betting markets and he looks like the most likely winner of the $400,00 event. The imported stayer has been set for this race since he started his autumn preparation and he is one of the few horses in this field that has proven from at 3200 metres after he took out the Listed Sandown Cup (3200m) during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival. The Dansili gelding has not been overly impressive in his first two starts this campaign, but he is a proven stayer that will be too strong over 3200 metres.
2nd # 13 Luck’s A Fortune ($10)
Luck’s A Fortune is one of the only other horses in the Adelaide Cup field that has won over 3200 metres and he has contested races right up to 4000 metres during his racing career. He was far from disgraced when fourth behind Taiyoo in the Group 3 Moonee Valley Night Cup (2600m) and he will be suited by the return to a bigger track. The Clangalang gelding will be strong in the final stages of the Adelaide Cup and is a genuine each-way chance.
3rd #1 Taiyoo ($4.20)
Taiyoo has won seven of his past eight race starts and is obviously a very talented horse, but there are question marks over his ability to run out a strong 3200 metres. The Haradasun gelding was able to take out the Lord Reims Stakes, but he was clearly tiring late and he has been allocated more weight for the Adelaide Cup. He should be in it for a long way and should be included in all exotic bets.
Best Roughie #11 Waltzing To Win ($51)
Waltzing To Win is currently available at 2015 Adelaide Cup odds of $51 and she is the best roughie in betting markets for this afternoon’s event. The Benicio mare does not win out of turn, but she has previously performed well over 3200 metres and she performed well behind Renew in the Sandown Cup. She will likely take up the running in the early stages of the race and is capable of toughing it out to the finish.
Taiyoo ($4.40) remains a on top of the 2015 Adelaide Cup betting market with Ladbrokes and is a narrow favourite from Lucky Lucky ($4.80) and Renew ($5).
