Hallowed Crown has maintained his unbeaten record with a fast-finishing victory from Scissor Kick and Shooting To Win in the 2014 Golden Rose Stakes.
The Street Sense colt was caught wide in the early stages of the race, but he was able to finish over the top of Scissor Kick, who was also caught wide in the early stages of the race.

Bring Me The Maid has been a clear favourite in Golden Rose Stakes betting markets since the barrier draw was conducted on Tuesday and she remains the punters pick to become just the second filly to take out the Group 1 event.

The daughter of Sebring returned to the races with a comfortable victory in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 23 and trainer Peter Moody told Racing Ahead yesterday that the three-year-old had taken plenty of benefit out of the first-up run and will be hard to beat in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) this afternoon.
“She has actually conditioned up,” Moody said.
“She is not a filly that carries a lot and she still looks a bit backward, but I think that she is going to be that wiry looking type her whole life.
“She has actually put on muscle and condition in that period and it is really pleasing, so much so that I have done the same amount of work with her as I have done the colt.
“Each time she has worked with the colt she has got closer and closer, so much so that on Saturday and Tuesday morning there wouldn’t have been a cigarette paper between them working to the line.
“That indicates to me that she has taken nice improvement off that first-up run and the seven furlongs looks like it will suit ideally with her racing pattern.
“She has been strong on the line in all her races, she has drawn nicely and more importantly she gets that couple of kilos weight advantage off the colts.
“I don’t think it is any secret that the fillies have been better than the colts in their two-year-old and we are only a month into the three-year-old season and we are not going to go the early crow just yet, but everything shapes well for her tomorrow.”
Moody has two of the leading chances in the Golden Rose and talented colt Better Land has been the best backed runner this morning and is now into a quote of $5.50.
Better Land started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a promising second behind Scissor Kick in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) at Royal Randwick and he has his winner chances dashed by Liberation in the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) at the same venue on August 23.
Hallowed Crown is also available at Golden Rose odds of $5.50 and he has been steadily backed to maintain his unbeaten record in the Group 1 event at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.
The Street Sense colt stamped himself as a Golden Rose contender with a fast-finishing victory in the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30 and co-trainer James Cummings is confident that the three-year-old can overcome his wide barrier draw.
There are no other runners at single figures odds in Golden Rose betting markets, but there has been a sprinkling support of Godolphin colt Sarajevo, who has been backed from $17 into $12.
