Lidari and Brambles

The Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) is the strongest Caulfield Cup form guide and both Lidari and Brambles produced excellent performances in the Group 1 event.

Lidari hit the line strongly and looks as though he will relish the step-up up to 2400 metres in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), while Brambles peaked on his run in the final stages, but has previously won at Group 1 level over 2400 metres and will have taken plenty of benefit out of that run.

Lidari, Brambles and Lucia Valentina

Lucia Valentina is a deserving Caulfield Cup favourite and she needs to be included in all exotic bets following her impressive win in the Turnbull Stakes.

The only question mark over Lucia Valentina is where she will be settled in the early stages of the race and she may need a bit of luck in the final stages, but if she is able to find clear running it is tough to see her missing out on a placing.

2014 Caulfield Cup Exotics Tips – First Four

Lucia Valentina, Admire Rakti, Seismos and Araldo

This first four is a bit of a throw at the stumps, but it is worth taking an exotic bet without Lidari and Brambles present in case there is plenty of early speed in the Caulfield Cup.

Admire Rakti is the wildcard in the race and it is tough to get a real grip on his 2014 Caulfield Cup form, but recent history suggests that all Japanese stayers need to be respected.

Seismos will need there to be plenty of early tempo in the Caulfield Cup to be a winning chance, but he is a very tough stayer and he will be running on strongly in the final stages, while the same can be said about Araldo who made up plenty of ground late to finish third in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at his last start.

Lucia Valentina ($4.40) remains a clear favourite in Turnbull Stakes betting markets from Lidari ($9), Brambles ($9.50), Admire Rakti ($10) and Junoob ($10).
