Luckygray is a clear favourite in 2013 Kingston Town Classic betting markets and form expert Adam Blencowe believes that the two-time Group 1 winner is the horse to beat in the Group 1 event at Ascot on Saturday.

Luckygray failed to fire during the 2013 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival but returned to his best form with his historic win in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m); lumping the top-weight of 58kg from barrier 12 to record a fast-finishing win over Platinum Rocker and Fire Up Fifi.
The Bradbury’s Luck gelding outlasted Mr Moet to win the Kingston Town Classic last year and Blencowe told RSN that the duo clearly sit on top of the pecking order in Perth; with Luckygray his 2013 Kingston Town Classic tip.
“It is a fairly established pecking order over there,” Blencowe said.
“We have Luckygray who runs to 121, he more often runs to 118 which is what he ran to win the Kingston Town last year, and Mr Moet who fluctuates anywhere between 115 and 119.
“The pecking order sits with Luckygray a little bit better than Mr Moet and a fair gap back to the rest.
“Luckygray was one of the better winners of the Railway in recent times and the Railway is always the key guide to this and there doesn’t look like there is any danger in the older horses.”
While Luckygray and Mr Moet are both established Group 1 performer in Perth, the best backed runner in 2013 Kingston Town Classic betting markets this week has been Fred Kersley-trained Ihtsahymn who will carry just 52kg in the weight-for-age event.
Ihtsahymn won the Group 2 Western Australian Guineas (1600m) with a storming finish at Ascot on Super Saturday and Blencowe rates the Ihtiram gelding the major danger to his 2013 Kingston Town Classic tips this weekend.
“The real danger is the three-year-old Ihtsahymn,” Blencowe said.
“He has a fair amount to find on form, I think he has about 12 pounds to find on form, but he gives every indication that he is still on the improve and we haven’t seen him above a mile yet.
“His two runs at a mile have been terrific and he gives every indication that he will improve out to 1800.
“He is probably the major danger and the market suggests as much.”
Luckygray is on top of Kingston Town Classic betting markets at odds of $2.60 from Ihtsahymn ($4.60), Mr Moet ($5.50) and Playing God ($9).
