Pasadena Girl is on top of the Thousand Guineas Prelude field and along with Jameka she will carry the top weight of 57 and a half kilograms this weekend.

The Peter Moody-trained filly stamped herself as a leading Thousand Guineas contender when she took out the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) during the 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and she returned to the races with a fast-finishing second behind Stay With Me in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 6.

The Atlantic Jewel Stakes is set to be the key form reference for the Thousand Guineas Prelude and Stay With Me, Jameka, Don’t Doubt Marley and Sagaronne are all set to back-up in the $200,000 event on Saturday.

One filly that will bring a different form line into the 2015 Thousand Guineas Prelude field is Phillip Stokes-trained Miss Gunpowder, who has recorded three race wins from her four starts to date.

Miss Gunpowder started her 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a soft win at Morphettville on July 25 and she finished a credible third behind Petits Filous and Jalan Jalan in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) before she returned to winning form in the Hughes Chauffeured Limos Handicap (1250m) at Morphettville on September 5.

Stokes told Racing Ahead this morning that Miss Gunpowder was at almost peak fitness for the Thousand Guineas Prelude and he is confident that she will run well this weekend.

“She is in good order and she will come back over there on Thursday night,” Stokes said.

“She is pretty much there now where I want her and it is just a matter of maintaining her.

“Everything suggests that she should get that (1400 metres) and further.

“It is a tough race and there are some very good fillies around this year, but hopefully she is one of them.”

Another filly that will take winning form into the Thousand Guineas Prelude is Mike Moroney-trained Alaskan Rose, who will defend her unbeaten record on Saturday.

Alaskan Rose started her racing career with a four and a half lengths romp at Sandown on August 12 and she proved that win was no fluke when she took out the Montague Tree Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on August 29, but she faces the toughest challenge of her career to date in the Thousand Guineas Prelude.

My Poppette, Reemah, Super Cash, Payroll and Effortless Miss have also been included in the 2015 Thousand Guineas Prelude field.
